Hey everyone,
So this email is probably going to be fairly short for one major reason. Elder Lape was complaining about a headache at the end of Sunday night and by Monday morning, he felt super sick, so we didn't go anywhere. Tuesday we went to District Meeting, which almost finished him off, so we came home and he slept pretty much all day. Wednesday he slept for most of the day as well. Thursday he said he was feeling a bit better, so we arranged to go out with Brother Jones, a member in our ward, for an hour or so to try and contact members that we have their records but no one knows them. We tried by one, but no one answered. When we tried by the second one, we were met by a very nice Baptist lady, who told us that the member hasn't considered himself a member since the early 70s. When we got back in the car, Elder Lape said that he wasn't feeling good anymore, so we called it a night. Friday, he looked worse than he did on Wednesday, so I guess that hour on Thursday really took a toll on him. So he slept all day and late Friday night, we got a text from Brother Soto, asking if we could help him with a service project the next day. Elder Lape said he was feeling better, so we met Brother Soto at his house at 6:30 Saturday Morning. We worked with him, Sister Soto, and Brother Hambrick to build a wheelchair ramp for a sister in the ward who lives in a trailer and can't put any weight on her bad leg. So we worked all day long, but Elder Lape and I needed to leave around 3:45so we could shower and get ready for dinner with the ward clerk. Sunday was church, as normal and it was amazing, as normal.
With Elder Lape being sick, I've had a lot of time to study and ponder. I've learned a lot about self control and receiving answers for ourselves, and that even if we don't feel like we received an answer immediately, it is most likely God asking us to trust him.
I love you all,
Elder Howell
