It all just makes sense
Hey everybody,
So a member got remarried about a month ago and her husband started coming to church three weeks ago.
First week, we talked to him and he said he was thinking about converting, but he would let us know if he was interested in meeting with us.
Second week, he catches Bishop Fa after Sacrament Meeting and asks what steps he needs to take to convert. Thankfully, Elder Patterson and I were standing nearby, so Bishop grabbed us and we talked to him in the hallway. He told us that he had already gotten on the church website and asked us a couple questions about the translation and the Urim and Thummin. So we get him a copy of the Book of Mormon and he said he had some reading to do.
We met last Saturday and he told us about how he's been reading and praying about the Book of Mormon, and God keeps telling him to keep reading. He had also found the Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration movie (he admitted to crying when Joseph died). By this point, he had pretty much taught himself the Restoration so we went right on through it and into the Plan of Salvation. He loved it! He kept saying how it just made sense. We extended a baptismal invite for March 30th and he said that as long as he had his answer, he would, and he was confident that he would have his answer by then.
Then yesterday at church, we were talking to him after Sacrament Meeting, and he said that he got his answer and that it is God's will that he be baptized. Then he stood up in Elders Quorum when he introduced himself and told everyone that he was preparing to be baptized on March 30th.
Now a quick summary of the rest of the week (which is much less exciting). We found a state park last week and walked around, skipping rocks and going through mud. Elder Patterson and I were doing the last part of our studies at a park in Dundalk and it was relatively pretty, so we took pictures. Honestly, other than that, not a whole lot of exciting things happened this week. A lot of sitting in the bus, a lot of waiting for the bus, a guy who sat there and told me about Zodiac signs for half an hour cause I couldn't get a word in, normal stuff.
Love you all,
Elder Howell
