March goes out with a bang
Hey Everyone,
So one of the main things that happened this week was Zone Conference. It was all about how our attitude affects the work and about finding not only the right sources, but also to find current sources. I think that that is especially applicable with General Conference right around the corner. The scriptures are amazing, but Peter never had a cell phone, John never went to the mall. So they never wrote about those things specifically, they wrote the Doctrine of Christ, with an emphasis on what was applicable in their day. But since we have modern day Apostles (yay), we can listen to God's will when it comes to the mall and cell phones. Even if they don't talk about the mall specifically, they will talk about the Doctrine of Christ and the Spirit will help us fill in the gaps for our lives specifically. So needless to say, Zone Conference was amazing. Also, one of the Assistants and a long time friend of mine, Elder Leonardo, finishes his mission this transfer, so he gave his departing testimony, which was very powerful. That night, inspired by Zone Conference, we went out and tried to contact out uncontacted referrals, and ended up meeting a woman named Brenda. She is a very nice woman and loved talking to us, but what made it a unique contact was that she foretold our futures. Not in a "familiar spirits" way, I've had enough experience in that area to be able to tell the difference, but it was an interesting "prophesy."
The other amazing thing that happened this week was Travis' baptism. I was sweating all week, waiting for something to go wrong, but Travis came on Saturday afternoon and the font filled up fine, and everything went great! President Mutumbo was also able to come, which was awesome. The next day, Travis was at church a half hour early, he got confirmed, then interviewed by the bishop for the Aaronic Priesthood and a limited-use temple recommend, and we gave him the Aaronic Priesthood, so he is well on his way. We had a linger-longer after church, and Travis was acting a bit different than I'd seen him before, if I had to put a word to it, it would probably be awake. He seemed more awake than I've seen him before. It's been amazing to watch the change in his life over the last several weeks.
