El Dorado
Hey Everyone,
So the funniest thing by far that happened this week was a conversation Elder Dixon and I had yesterday while it was raining:
So the funniest thing by far that happened this week was a conversation Elder Dixon and I had yesterday while it was raining:
D: Look, Elder Howell it really, truly is the Road to El Dorado.
H: you drank from the puddle didn't you.
D: oh, come on.
H: I'm not coming on. I wouldn't set foot in that city for a 1 million dollars.
D: how about a 100 million dollars.
H: awwroh, what did you say?
D: oh you know pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters. You walk around and can just pick them off the street. But you dont want that, so let's get back into the car and go back to our apartment. After all it's worked so well last time.
H: wait, wait, wait. New plan, we follow the street, we pick up the change, and then we go back to our aparment.
D: And buy our aparment.
I hope you understood that reference, (The Road to El Dorado). Other than that, not a whole lot happened, we walked a lot, we got dropped by three or four of the people we were teaching. I did get to go on exchanges back to Inner Harbor with Elder Hadley, who's serving his fourth transfer in that ward. It was really fun to get to go back to my birth place for a day! Walking around those same streets and those same buses that I used for 4 months all those months ago. It was also very interesting to see how my strategies have changed over my mission. I also got to see a couple of members that I got to know while I was serving there, and that was very nostalgic.
We also had a Bishopric change this week, they didn't call a new Second Councilor, but they did call a new Bishop and First Councilor. It was somewhat humorous for me because I've had the pleasure of working with Bishop Weeks in two other wards that I've served in, so there were a couple jokes passed between us about him following me around the stake. The Stake Presidency have also started recognizing me because this is the fourth ward that I've served in in their stake, so that's been a lot of fun.

Love you all,
Elder Howell
Here's a bunch of pictures from Inner Harbor, a bus accident we saw, and some kids gambling on the church steps while we waited for a lesson.
