My Companion is a Mutant

Hey Everyone,

So the main highlight of the week was the doctor's office on Thursday. We went to see if they could finally figure out what was wrong with his foot, and they did. Elder Dixon is a mutant. He has an extra bone in his ankle that's inflamed, which is what's been causing him all this pain. So they stuck him on anti-inflammatories and told him to rest, so we've been doing a lot of resting since then. However, we've still been able to get out and work for a little bit each day. In fact, on Thursday, we ended up having a really cool lesson with a referral we received from the Jones Falls sisters a few months ago that asked us to wait until semester ended. Well it ended so we called her, and she said she was still interested in meeting with us. So we met at a Panera Bread, and her first question was, "Do you really believe we can become gods?" It ended up not being a bash, which we were thankful for, she was just an honest seeker for truth with a lot of questions, some of them from questionable sources. We ended up teaching a lot of material simply based off her questions, so now we just need to got back through the lessons to make sure that she really understands the full scope of the Gospel and our purpose on this Earth.

Other than that, there wasn't a whole lot to note from this week. We have been able to meet with a lot of the members this past week. Getting together is semi-difficult because they're all single and very few of them are roommates, but this week it was nice because when they would have us over for dinner, sometimes they'd invite one or two other people from the ward to come too, so we can meet with three members instead of just one, which has been an awesome way of getting to know them.

Since we've been inside so much, I made a triple batch of pancakes on Friday, and they actually turned out looking like normal pancakes! I was so proud that I took a picture, so now you all get to see my pancake.

I've been reading a lot in the New Testament lately and it's been really eye-opening to me just to see how many truths are only taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that are abundantly clear in the Bible. For an example Paul states fairly explicitly that God has a body and that we will have a body like God's in Philippians 3:21. Also, I've found that I learn a lot more from reading one of Paul's epistle's if I read the section about it in the Bible Dictionary.

I really think that's all for this week, sorry it wasn't more exciting.

Love you,
Elder Howell
