Here are my amazing Pancakes! And a blanket that one of the members makes for all the missionaries that come through. I chose the Ravens colors because I came in right before the season started. The couple on the back left are the Hydes. They finished their mission last week. The other couple are the Simpsons who have been here about a month longer than me. Then in Height order, Elder Lehnig, our district leader, me, Elder Stafford, and Elder Carter.

Hey all, This week was really interesting because it was another week of mostly service. We helped one of the senior missionaries, who's in charge of the housing of the mission, move all the furniture out of the apartment that I originally lived in that the mission is closing down. Then later in the week we helped one of our more elderly members, Kevan (And yes that is the actual spelling), finish his shed that he is residing after 50 years.  We have also been going around and meeting with the Recent Converts that I've been meeting with since the beginning and they are so awesome to talk to. All three of them are pretty elderly, live alone, and can't get around very much so it's always so special to visit them because they love the missionaries so much!  I also had a super cool experience happen! Kevan's girlfriend, Betty isn't a member but she's been coming to church as long as Kevan has been and she came up to our Ward Mission Leader and told him

Transfers and Playgrounds September 18, 2017

Hello all, Elder Stafford got transferred to another part of the mission and I now have Elder Haslam with me in the harbor. He is a great missionary from Arizona who's been out for about 5 months. We get along great, we have a lot of very similar interests so we always have a lot to talk about.  This week was filled with a lot of visiting our favorite members since Elder Stafford was leaving then visiting the people that Elder Haslam needs to get to know, so I got to see a lot of people this week!  Another huge thing we did this week was service. When we went to visit one of my favorite members, Kevan, he was fixing up his shed. So we stopped and helped him put siding on his shed until we had to leave for our dinner appointment. That dinner was the first time I had real crab cakes and let me tell you, they were incredible! They looked a little strange at first but when I took a bite it was so good! The next day,  Friday , we participated in the Day of Service that the g

Hey all, This week was especially different from past weeks because Elder Stafford picked up a virus on Monday night or  Tuesday , his immune system was weakened by having Salmonella, so we weren't allowed to go out and work from  Wednesday  to  Friday . It was kind of nice to relax  on Wednesday  but by  Friday  we were getting a little stir crazy. So  Thursday  I made pancakes and as in all things in missionary work, I pulled gospel principles from it. I've decided to share 3 of the ones I came up with. 1. Tender Mercies. Since we weren't able to leave the apartment, we couldn't have gone to buy any ingredients that we didn't already have. When I started I thought we had everything then I got halfway through and realized we didn't have flour. I searched everywhere and couldn't find it and right when I was about to give up I opened the last drawer and there was just enough flour to make a batch. 2. Exact Obedience. My dad gave me very specific i

It's weird to think that it's already September... So much happened this week that it would take forever to write it all so I'll give significant Highlights. Last Monday we went to an old Jewish Synagogue/history museum. It was so cool!!!! We went into two synagogues, one was the third oldest in America and the other one was an active synagogue so I got to wear a  Yamaka !!! It was oddly exciting. I ended up getting a  Yamaka  as a souvenir. It's so pretty, it reminded me of something my mom would make a quilt out of. There is so much history in this city, you just just have to know where to find it. And you have to have an open mind. If you close off your thinking to think that  lds  members are the only people who can be happy then you won't get anywhere with the people in this city. And they won't like talking to you either. The Jewish Lady who was our guide was really surprised at how open we were to learn not just about the buildings but also about the
